South Island Champs Again!!

This last weekend I spent three days with our two top Water polo teams at Moana pool competing in the South Island Water polo Tournament. This included the top 12 teams from Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill. The competition was intense and huge learning curve for our Blue team who gained much needed experience at this level. Well done to Aaliyah and Laura who competed with this team. Our Gold team meet little resistance in the pool play in their charge toward the finals. They meet Sumner in the semi-final winning 10-2 before meeting the anticipated re-match final of 2011 against the very strong Cobham A team from Christchurch who happened to also be our billets for the weekend. This was a very tense and nerve wracking final with both teams playing some outstanding water polo. Congratulations to Nick P and Nicole who were both part of the winning Balmacewen Gold team who came away 8-5 winners in the final.
